Objectives

The actuality is marked by the generalisation and democratisation of access to new technologies. We live, today, in global and dynamic contexts, where these technologies assume great preponderance and are used by almost all citizens. With the COVID-19 pandemic, which forced the isolation and reformulation of the education, training, work and youth system and the transfer of interactions to the digital context, this reality has intensified. Although, on the one hand, the use of technologies presents numerous potentials, namely as a tool for learning, participation, and development of citizens, with a special focus on young people, on the other hand, there are certain risks and challenges associated with them when there is no critical and conscious use. Today, we face a youth problem that is common to different contexts: the abuse and/or harmful use of technology (screens and internet) by young people, a problem that has been aggravated in recent years and in the context of the pandemic. Being that this is a global problem, therefore, occurring in all parts of the world, and that the potentialities of non-formal education and art in the development process of young people are increasingly recognized, the consortium realised the importance of enhancing interventions in this area through international cooperation. This is how the motivation for the project we present here to the Erasmus+ Programme arises: we want to promote the professional development of youth workers and European organisations in the field of intervention through non-formal education and art to respond to problems and challenges of young people (like the one we have identified). To this end, we foresee a mobility activity based on observation, discussion and exchange of know-how, as well as practical and experiential learning experience directly with young people. After this project, the consortium will be better able to improve the quality of the local practices implemented with young people, namely through more empowered youth workers. We have identified as objectives of the project: -Build the capacity of youth workers so that they are able to strengthen their action with young people, namely through the identification of common intervention practices that are based on non-formal education and art and allow the development of competences to respond to common challenges; -To test the good practices identified by the youth workers directly with young people, contributing to the necessary readjustment of them and to the strengthening of the capacity of the youth workers to implement them; -Raise awareness among young people, stakeholders and the community at large about the importance of developing competences in young people that help prevent and/or eradicate their specific challenges, such as abuse and/or harmful use of technology.
