Objectives

The Erasmus Plus "Return to Normalcy" Training Course (TC) was conceived in response to the unprecedented challenges and disruptions brought about by the global COVID-19 pandemic. As the world grappled with the multifaceted consequences of the pandemic, it became evident that societies, economies, and individuals were profoundly affected. "Return to Normalcy" TC aimed to address these critical issues by fostering international cooperation and partnerships among youth workers and their organizations. It draws inspiration from the historical concept of "return to normalcy" and aims to create a new normal that is more resilient, inclusive, and responsive to the challenges of the modern world. The “Return to Normalcy” TC aimed to offer experiences, methodologies and tools to empower youth workers with techniques that combine different educational approaches and build together with youth the necessary resilience and capacity to withstand the uncertainty we’ve been facing in the last couple of years. The objectives of the "Return to Normalcy" TC were: Supporting Mental Health and Well-being: The pandemic had a significant impact on mental health and well-being. The TC included initiatives to raise awareness about mental health issues, provide resources for mental health support, and promote integrative well-being practices within youth organizations. Building Resilience: "Return to Normalcy" TC recognizes the need to build resilience in the face of future crises. It encourages youth workers and their organizations to develop adaptability, resilience, and innovative learning methods that can withstand disruptions and uncertainties. Encouraging International Collaboration: "Return to Normalcy" TC encourages international collaboration and cultural exchange among educational institutions and learners. It aims to nurture intercultural competence, tolerance, and understanding, preparing individuals to be responsible global citizens. Promoting Inclusivity: "Return to Normalcy" TC was committed to ensuring that no one is left behind in the transition to the post-pandemic normal. This includes addressing educational and digital inequalities, supporting marginalized and vulnerable groups, and promoting accessibility and inclusivity in educational environments. Special attention was given to individuals with disabilities, refugees, and those from disadvantaged backgrounds. The bootcamp addressed topics such as: a) Improving your self-knowledge, awareness and emotional intelligence to develop and align the soft skills with personal goals and expectations and how these could affect personal and professional path; b) Create a safe space where young people can exchange experiences among other peers to share and create dialogue, common experiences, respond to collective challenges, build visions that support their dreams and perspectives in this new reality; c) Provide several practical tips that could boost their skills and confidence, as well as support their capacity to be resilient facing these new challenges; d) Develop a constructive mindframe that offers a critical perspective to assess external dynamics and build collective synergies to support collaborative decision-making processes, In this mindset, our main goal was to offer a practical bootcamp, with deep roots on non-formal education. We were bringing forward good practices that have been emerging from within a formal vocational educational school, with a leading group of students and trainers that will be linked with the background of our partners to build together and experiment with new participatory approaches.
