“In the 21st century, nothing has impacted more our daily lives than new technology. Distances, identity, communication, education, labor market are all re-shaped in the digital age. Nonprofit sector has to keep up with the change, addressing various challenges related to how their work interferes with and develops according to new media. Technology can be a great tool for a good cause if you can master the right techniques at the right moment.” (Digital tools for the management of volunteers). According to Europe’s Digital Decade: digital targets for 2030: “Europe aims to empower businesses and people in a human-centered, sustainable and more prosperous digital future.” Therefore, our project was crucial in the sense that Youth Work needs to keep up with the current times, and ultimately, we looked to equip Youth Workers with skills that allowed them to maximize the use of the digital space, making them better equipped Youth Workers to cope and have a bigger impact in our ever changing world. The European Commission developed the European Commission Digital Strategy, when analysing their general objectives we related to our project to the following objectives: empower all staff and equip them with the necessary skills and encourage crossfunctional teams and collaboration to foster a digital culture supported by a flexible and accessible digital workplace; create incentives for a business-driven digital transformation in all Commission activities; track and foster innovation to efficiently manage the Commission’s portfolio of IT systems (digital landscape) so it becomes an inclusive, sustainable, streamlined and seamless digital environment; We understood this report refers to the European Commission internally, however we believed E-Gamechanger could support these goals in the Youth Working Sector and contribute to the European Union’s goals of Digitalisation. This project was created under the understanding that Digital tools can enhance the capacity of response of NGO’s and Youth Workers in a variety of ways, that in essence, capacitates organizations to have a stronger response ability in fighting for their missions and projects. Digital Tools can also enable Youth Workers to have easier access to their target group, develop better or at least new and innovative NFE activities, manage their day to day work, facilitate and work in international partnerships faster and more effectively, manage volunteers, promote their brand and mission, share project results more effectively, have easier access to information, develop investigation processes to structure their projects, network and find new partners etc. We believed this was necessary, by analyzing NGO’s on Social Media, according to the "2017 Global NGO Online Technology Report" (Non-Profit Tech For Good): - 32% did not have a social media strategy. - 34% of the executive team did not prioritize social media. - 26% considered it unnecessary to provide financial support and investment to social media management. Hence, we implemented this training course to increase the skills of 22 youth workers, when using digital tools in their daily work as a means to increase it’s quality and capacity of response from the 10th to the 17th of August 2023. E-Gamechanger Objectives: - To improve the knowledge and skills of 22 youth workers regarding digital tools that can support them across all aspects of their work, from team and organization management, digital marketing, NFE tools, EU platforms and gamification tools; - To improve the knowledge and skills of 22 youth workers on digital platforms such as Loquiz, Miro, Menti, Google Workspace, Canva, Salto Youth, Buffer, Discord and Social Media Channels; - To analyze what aspects of Youth Work can be digitalised and how an increase in Digitalisation in our field of work can benefit it; - To ultimately improve the quality of Youth Working and Youth Workers in the digital sphere by developing and sharing the E-Gamechangers - Digital Tools for Youth Workers One Page PDF with 2000 Youth Workers - To provide an environment of equality and social participation for participants with fewer opportunities. Relevance to the E+ Programme: One of the special objectives in the youth field is "to provide more opportunities, especially for the learning mobility of young people, active youth workers or youth founders and youth leaders” which overlaped with the objectives and activities of this project. The beneficiaries of this project were from the institutions themselves, which we hoped would increase the impact on achieving this goal. This project, Digital Tools for Youth Workers, aims to increase the quality of youth work, is in full compliance with the 2nd specific goal of the action, which is "to encourage the improvement of the quality of youth work, especially through enhancing cooperation between institutions/organizations and/or other stakeholders in the youth field", especially through digitalization.
