Project Content As a result of our research, we have seen that the age of drug use is decreasing more and more every year, we have learnt that this situation, which was frequently encountered in adults in the past, can now be encountered in young people and children, and for this reason, we have implemented our project in order to support raising awareness in people about drug addiction. In this context, the data from the European Drug Report show that drug problems today are affecting almost everywhere. Domestically, drug addiction exacerbates other complex problems such as homelessness, the management of psychiatric disorders and youth offending. Internationally, drug problems are growing in many low- and middle-income countries, undermining governance and development and adding to the already serious public health and security challenges facing many countries. According to data from the Health Research Board, it is estimated that around 83.4 million or 29 percent of adults (aged 15-64) in the EU have used drugs at least once in their lifetime. More than 22 million European adults attempted drug use in 2022. In 2022, 15.5 percent of EU citizens aged 15-34 years used drugs. In particular, surveys in the EU show that around 2.4 million people aged 15-34 (2.4 percent of this age group) have used drugs in the past year. Five of the 11 European countries that have conducted surveys and provided confidence intervals since 2020 report higher estimates than in their previous comparable surveys. As a result of all these, we implemented our project and carried out our activities in order to support raising awareness in people about drug addiction. Objectives Achieved *By contributing to the awareness of young people to be directed to sports activities, we supported them to raise awareness about the need to stay away from addiction. *We drew attention to the need to raise individual and social awareness about the harms of drug addiction and supported increased participation in voluntary awareness-raising activities. *We have contributed to the increased visibility of the work and activities carried out to minimise the effects of drug addiction. *We contributed to raising awareness of young people about Erasmus Plus and Youthpass Certificate. *We informed our youth workers and young participants about the harms of drug use and helped them to develop awareness on this issue and to reach the awareness that they should adopt a quality and healthy lifestyle. *We helped young people develop resistance against harmful habits by creating hobby areas within the framework of sports and artistic activities. *We supported young people to overcome their prejudices by enabling them to recognise different cultures. *By providing young people with fewer opportunities to improve themselves, we encouraged them to participate in more social responsibility activities in the future. *We examined and analysed the factors that cause drug addiction and together with our youth workers and young participants we evaluated our results using non-formal learning techniques. * We have raised the awareness of young people about solution proposals and prevention plans on what to do to prevent drug addiction.
