The spread of false or biased information is a common phenomenon, either in the form of rumours, misinformation or propaganda. Electoral processes often reveal problems that occur within a society: the lack of information about how these processes function, the lack of understanding of citizens’ rights and responsibilities, as well as the lack of useful mechanisms to verify the information spread in the community which leads to an environment that favors the emergence of propaganda and fake news. The idea of this project appeared after the Central Electoral Bureau published the data on voting attendance, according to which only 25.39% of young Romanians were present at the 2020 elections, and after observing the increasing degree of susceptibility to misinformation and the possibility of radicalization among young people. In addition, it was observed a low sense of belonging to the community and a distrust in the ability to make a change at its level, so that most of them refuse to get actively involved in the environments they come from. In addition, a low sense of belonging to the community and a lack of confidence in their ability to make a change in it was observed among young people, so that most of them refuse to get actively involved in the communities they come from. The needs identified within the target group (young people with limited opportunities, aged between 16-18 from Olt county), resulted from the application of a questionnaire among students of the Economic High School "P.S. Aurelian" Slatina, "Ion Gh. Rosca" theoretical High School Osica de Sus and "Mihai Viteazul" theoretical High School Caracal were: 1. Lack of knowledge on civic education, on citizens’ rights and responsibilities. 2. Lack of access to opportunities for personal development caused by economic barriers. 3.Lack of promotion of democratic values among young people, resulting in their low participation in democratic life. 4. Lack of comprehensive and impartial sources of information. 5.Lack of media verification mechanisms in order to be able to recognise propaganda and fake news Therefore, the main objectives of the project were: 1. Increasing the level of knowledge among 100 participants regarding electoral processes and democratic values by presenting clear and concise information regarding the competences of the institutions that represent them and their rights and responsibilities as citizens, within the project activities. 2. Increasing the access of 30 participants to search tools and methodologies, filtering and critical evaluation of the information they are exposed to, by presenting documentation strategies and information analysis mechanisms, within the project activities. 3. Raising awareness on democratic values through non-formal education among 30 participants during the implementation of the project.
