Objectives

The Be The Change (BTC) project aimed to achieve several interconnected objectives. Primarily, the project sought to empower young individuals under the age of 18, emphasizing their potential to drive positive change both globally and within their immediate communities. Through engaging activities aligned with the Design for Change (DFC) methodology, participants were encouraged to cultivate essential 21st-century skills, including empathy, creative thinking, decision-making, effective communication, collaboration, and planning. An essential goal of the project was to address the lack of awareness and opportunities among young people in Serbia, particularly those under 18, regarding Erasmus+ projects. The aim was to eliminate barriers such as a lack of courage or limited opportunities, thereby facilitating the active participation of youngsters in international youth exchanges. The project strategically utilized the Design for Change educational program, an established initiative that promotes meaningful youth participation. Participants were encouraged to select subjects of personal importance, collaborate with adult mentors, and implement their own solutions within their communities. An emergent objective during the exchange was the promotion of media literacy among young participants. Acknowledging this need, the project adapted its activities to include sessions on media literacy, encouraging participants to create videos addressing the identified gap in understanding. Beyond merely showcasing the potential for change, the project aimed to equip young individuals with the skills and competencies needed to take meaningful actions and pursue their goals. The focus was on demonstrating not only that they can make a difference but also supporting them in translating their ideas into tangible actions. The project's multicultural dimension was crucial, bringing together participants from Spain, Poland, Romania, Israel, Ireland, and Serbia. This diversity aimed to highlight the shared dreams, fears, aspirations, and problems that transcend cultural boundaries, fostering a sense of commonality among the participants.
