Through this project, we delved into voluntary work in sports, engaging in discussions on current issues such as integration, Roma communities, older populations, migrants, refugees, racial discrimination, religious discrimination, gender discrimination, and cultural diversity. The primary objective was to empower young individuals in terms of personal development, self-image, and societal recognition. We viewed sports as an exceptional avenue for volunteer work, providing young people with additional life and job-search experiences. Collaborating with various voluntary organizations, young participants actively organized diverse events and activities. We leveraged sports as a tool to contribute positively to the local community and promote greater tolerance for diversity. As part of the project, numerous voluntary campaigns in sports were organized to disseminate tolerance, underscore the significance of mutual assistance, and enhance our competencies. Throughout the project, we honed our own competencies and explored opportunities for sports-related volunteering, including activities such as photography, video production, managing social networks, coaching children, organizing sports events, and working with vulnerable groups. The project aimed to familiarize participants with the concept of volunteering and its impact on the local environment, study volunteering in sports and best practices from partner countries, understand youth and volunteer work, bridge the gap between young participants and volunteer work, develop personal competencies through sports-related volunteering, enhance the self-image and self-confidence of participants, familiarize participants with vulnerable groups through voluntary work, and develop competencies in event organization and teamwork. The project comprised six key activities: Analysis of the volunteering situation in sports across partner countries Creation of video content to promote volunteering in sports Execution of an event to test our acquired competencies Development of an action plan and manual for societal inclusion through sports (accessible here) Implementation of voluntary sports events in partner countries (e.g., the Tour de Lotmerk, which raised contributions for flood relief in collaboration with the Ljutomer Sports Association)
