Objectives

The project "PEACE – coming soon..." was aimed at studying the consequences of wars and finding solutions to prevent similar situations in the future. We must strive for peace daily with new, fresh ideas. Over the past two years, the pandemic has greatly affected our lives, and it still does today. When 2022 was declared the European Year of Youth, young people had high expectations for connection and collaboration for the common good. However, the war in Ukraine disrupted our plans, as we realized that not all young people have the same opportunities. After World War II, Europe gained valuable experience in reconciliation between nations that had previously fought and in peaceful coexistence and tolerance. These values give us hope that through cooperation, coexistence, and democracy, we can find refuge in peace and security. People who start wars do not consider the consequences for those affected, including us, the young, who are striving for a brighter future. The goals of the project were: -to study the history of significant wars and compare educational content between schools in the participating countries; -to compare the position of young people in state institutions in the participating countries (parliament, ministries, leading positions in state organizations); -to research media reporting on significant European topics; -to present ideas for peaceful coexistence; -to exchange opinions and share best practices; -to raise awareness about the involvement of young people in youth policy at local, national, and European levels; -to promote tolerance, acceptance of differences, and diversity among young people and the public; -to strengthen European values, respect for human rights, freedom, culture, and international cooperation; -to create promotional materials with ideas for peace; -to encourage non-formal learning, critical thinking, and the improvement of youth competencies, especially those with fewer opportunities; -to promote intercultural dialogue and strengthen European identity; -to increase awareness of Erasmus+ opportunities and other available projects; -to encourage young people to pursue further education, participate in projects, and engage in active citizenship. The project also addressed the needs of young people to gain new experiences and skills that would help them enter the labor market and improve employment opportunities. We also developed ideas to promote tolerance and strengthen European identity, along with concrete proposals for their implementation.
