We aimed to pass on knowledge on environmental topics on a deeper level to young participants of the project. We also wanted to connect environmental topics with other current topics and empower young people in the project to search for green alternatives. As caring for the environment is one of the core value of Slovenian Falcon Youth Union (from hereon SFYU), we endower to spread awareness about environmentalism and encourage young people to search for better and greener solutions to the current climate change problems. We decided to embark on this project, because we are aware the younger generations are getting more and more involved in topics, which have to do with the environment and safe-guarding the environment. The topic of environmentalism is, however, a broad one, so we decided to narrow down our focus on shortage of (natural end energy) resources and green energy. One of the reasons we decided to take on this topic is also the fact that, we as a society, are becoming more and more digitalized (young people are growing up enveloped in digital technology) and that makes it important to understand where we source the necessary energy and what that means for the environment. We were able to connect young people from 6 youth organisations (SFYU from Slovenia, Esplais Catalans from Spain, MAAT from Serbia, Perspektiva from Albania, SDJ - Die Falekn from Germany and Fenix from Slovakia) and empower them on the topic of environmentalism with a focus on resource (natural end energy) scarcity and green energy. Throughout the youth exchange we offered them knowledge and tools, which will prove helpful in their future self-expression, work and active participation in society. The goals of the project were: - 30 young participant between the ages of 15 and 20 will be taught about resource (natural and energy) scarcity and green energy alternatives on local and global levels; - young participants will be taught of the various way we get energy and their positive and negative consequences; - young participants will be empowered to recognize and look for alternative ways of solving this problem; - participants will be able to connect the topic of the exchange to the values of their organizations and exchange good practices in the field; - to plan and execute a social media campaign (on social media platforms of their own choosing) in their own organizations.
