The project "The Challenge of Media Informing" was related to the media, media informing and media literacy. We have offered the young participants a current and attractive topic. The main goal of the project was to make the participants aware of the importance of media literacy and adequately present them with the importance and influence of the media in everyday life. We mentioned different types and sources of media, but the emphasis was mainly on electronic media, which today are convincingly the most widespread, influential, used and, unfortunately, also abused. The Internet allows us to choose and use media from all over the world, with many sections in different languages, anytime and anywhere. On the other hand, all this also has its dark side, because more and more fake and spin news are published, some media spread propaganda, while others are banned in individual countries. All this ultimately causes confusion and the wrong impression, and even disinterest and avoidance of the media by young people, who thus become passive observers of the world around them. Thus, today we have a kind of paradox between hyper-information and censorship, informing and misleading, and between informing and promoting. When publishing news, exclusivity and speed are the biggest advantages, but because of this, their reality, design and objectivity often suffer. That's why we directed young people to a more active and critical approach as far as media information is concerned. We tried our best to increase their interest in this area. We encouraged them to self-initiate, regularly and objectively monitor the media and to take into account their own preferences. We also encouraged them to think critically and debate. We also familiarized them with the code of ethics and the quality standard. This helped them to identify hate speech and discrimination, and on the other hand, it directed them towards a more respectful, tolerant and non-violent dialogue, both online and in other environments.
