Our ultimate GOAL was to create a 2.0 youth worker/educator equipped with multiple tools to develop competences and create a personal path towards competence implementation and goal accomplishment; as needed by the times, society and youth cultures emerging since the last decade. Our OBJECTIVES were to train youth workers to become trainers on youth empowerment while also developing competences as graphic facilitation, enabling them to locally implement training on youth empowerment in their local reality; to train the same group of youth workers, upon completion of the local training on youth empowerment with a basic set of coaching competencies, and to work with the participants on the local training on youth empowerment to develop their action plains; to observe, monitor, assess and evaluate both the residential international training for trainers and coaches and graphic facilitation, as well as the local actions, in order to provide empirical evidence and verifiable indicators of the efficacy of this formula, and its need to be further implemented and invested upon; and to introduce visual thinking as a vital skill for developing new ideas and designs, communicating those ideas effectively, and collaborating with others to make them real. Participation in two fully-funded international training courses, 2 local avtivities organised by particicipants therefore offered: focus on the personal development of participants and the development of constructive attitudes, self-awareness and self-confidence to engage in coaching, graphic facilitation, and visual storytelling; becoming trainers on youth empowerment while also developing competencies in youth empowerment via coaching, graphic facilitation, and visual storytelling, enabling participants to implement training on youth empowerment in their local reality; access to an international peer group; access to internal bibliography; and upon successful completion of all required tasks (active participation in training courses as well as conducting a local action and dissemination activities) a Youthpass certificate which can be used to measure the ownership of presented competences in participating persons. IMPACT “UBUNTU” did see a path that started from exploring coaching from the perspective of self coaching and self-awareness, to coaching others and empowering them towards self-awareness and goal achievement - i.e. creation of a professional leader in the community for youth work who can drive ideas to action and also facilitate events focused on YOUTH EMPOWERMENT via coaching, graphic facilitation, and visual storytelling. We are happy to reflect that the objectives were met and the Participants experienced through experiential learning, non-formal education and value-based learning a journey across psychology, philosophy, pedagogy.
