Physical and mental health, well-being

Objectives

The main theme of the project was to promote and affirm the need for mental health care for youth workers who are faced with daily hard and grim work that is a risk factor for their own mental health. Initially, youth workers had the opportunity to analyse the efficacy and ways in which they care for their mental health, as well as to enrich their theoretical and practical knowledge and skills in maintaining good mental health and wellbeing. The fact that the project involved multiple non-profit organisations from different countries with different social, cultural and economic backgrounds created a wonderful environment to share experiences and best practices on specific approaches to mental health care and well-being. The knowledge gained then allowed the youth workers to promote general awareness of mental health and wellbeing amongst their colleagues and the young people they work with with follow up activities. The project objectives were thus achieved: - Examples of useful methods for well-being from each partner country were shared and practices were exchanged at national and international level and it was determined how these could be applied to the well-being of youth workers. -Youth workers gained competences and capacities to design a personal self-care programme based on their own needs. This project outcome was an original tool - an overview of effective and comprehensive self-care in different settings and in a way that respects the preferences of youth workers. -Knowledge was transferred to other youth workers and their young people through the local workshops created. These were organised within each country, with learning outcomes adapted and tailored to personal needs, realities and resources. We are also committed to showing solidarity across the region and sharing knowledge, best practices and expertise. This project was designed as a build on and improvement of the successful Treat Yourself youth worker mobility implemented in 2021. Thanks to the reflections during the mobility, the feedback and the impact evaluation among the participating youth workers and organisations in the previous project, we took the great opportunity to organise an upgraded part 2.
