Objectives

Our goal was to cooperate with students and pupils of school parliaments and their coordinators. Three schools were included in the project, but in the end three more schools from NSK joined us and wanted to work with us on the project. They were: Nitra Piaristic Gymnasium, Gbelce Primary School and Demandice Primary School. So we ended up working with 6 schools: 2 high schools and 4 elementary schools. The basic pillar was to provide education in various areas, cooperation, support for the activities of school parliaments, networking, peer learning, consulting and inspiring each other. Young people should learn participation, democratic principles and be active not only at school, but also in the city or village where they live. One of the main goals was to provide educational opportunities for SP coordinators, to support the functioning of parliaments at school and to make their work more efficient at schools. It was the concept of the European Dialogue with Youth that helped us ensure the active participation of young people and their activism at the level of schools, the community in which they live and also at the regional level. Another goal was to map the situation of school parliaments in villages and cities, to compare and map the needs of young people in different conditions. The project was implemented in a nationally mixed area, and the implementation of the project itself was conducted in the Slovak and Hungarian languages. However, Hungarian-speaking students appreciated communication in Slovak and wanted to use Slovak in communication and in their work. It was a moment when they could use the Slovak language in real life and thus practice their knowledge in a foreign language. An important point was to link individual SPs into mutual cooperation, which they stated as a very interesting inspiration and one of the most important benefits of the project. We used various technologies and mass communication means, where they deepened their knowledge and skills. The three-day leadership course was a great benefit for the young members of the school parliaments, where they could learn a lot about themselves, about leadership skills, teamwork and opportunities for self-development. The meetings were mostly held in other places so that they could visit NSK places.
