The primary objective of this project was to provide interdisciplinary and ecologically oriented education to both youth and children, preparing them for the future. By training volunteers and engaging children in early education, the project aimed to: Equip volunteers with the education needed to balance economic and ecological standards through non-formal, cross-curricular learning. Enhance problem-solving, critical thinking and other essential skills among volunteers. Enable volunteers to develop and implement educational activities that foster ecological and economic awareness in children. Actively involve volunteers in local civic participation and engage children in understanding their connection and responsibility towards nature. Promote financial literacy and sustainable thinking among children. Create publicly available interdisciplinary materials and new curricular activities that support green education initiatives. The project aimed to prepare the current generation to approach global ecological challenges within an economic context and to instill green and economical thinking in the next generation. The combined efforts of volunteers, educators and local communities ensured that the project's objectives were met.
We applied for this project to address the urgent need for education on sustainability and green economy concepts among youth and young children. Recognizing the gap in early childhood education regarding environmental awareness and sustainable practices, our project aimed to equip kindergarten children with knowledge and skills that promote environmental stewardship. We identified the need to create engaging and interactive educational materials that can be used by teachers and volunteers to foster a deeper understanding of the green economy and sustainability in a way that is accessible and enjoyable for young learners. By addressing these needs, the project aimed to equip volunteers with the necessary skills and knowledge, engage children in meaningful learning experiences and contribute to a broader cultural shift towards sustainability and responsible economic practices. By involving volunteers from different countries, we also aimed to promote intercultural exchange and collaborative learning, enriching the educational experience for both the children and the volunteers.
