Objectives

According to the air quality monitoring station data of the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization at the beginning of December 2020, the air pollution rate in Düzce was determined as the worst air in Turkey with 177 (unhealthy) values. The extent of air pollution reached by Düzce in many local and national communication tools in Turkey has been reported on these dates. In addition, it has been announced that the air of 50 of 51 provinces of which data are measured sufficiently in our country are still polluted according to the criteria of the World Health Organization. The European Union air agency defines air pollution as the most risky environmental pollution in the EU. Looking at the environmental reports, more than 400,000 people die early in the EU every year due to problems caused by air pollution. This number is more than 10 times the traffic accidents on the road. Every year 6.5 million people get sick because of air pollution causing diseases such as paralysis, asthma and bronchitis. Almost two-thirds of the ecosystem in the European continent is threatened by problems caused by air pollution. The most basic human right is the right to life. All elements and risks threatening the right to life should be eliminated. Increasing the fight against air pollution, which is one of the biggest risks, has been the main factor that reveals the need for this project. Although there are more than one causes of air pollution, it is impossible to prevent all of these reasons in today's conditions. However, it is imperative to raise awareness of communities on the protection of the environment and civil society to support the environmental policies of governments. With our project, we aimed to inform individuals, especially young people, about air pollution and to become more sensitive individuals on this issue. In addition, increasing the institutional capacities of organizations working on environmental protection is one of the goals of our project. This information is a necessary situation in our country, especially in Düzce, and in many European cities. One of the most important goals of the European green agreement signed in 2019 is to raise awareness and educate the public on the protection of the environment in an individual sense. In this context, it was one of the main objectives of this project to explain the dimensions of environmental pollution, especially air pollution, more strongly, and increase the awareness and skills of people in the protection of the environment. It is planned to be celebrated every year on 7 September 2020 by the World Health Organization, declaring it "clean air day for blue skies". With our project, it wass aimed to increase the importance and impact of today by drawing attention to this important day. Raising awareness with a strong event on this special day was one of the goals of our project. Among the aims of our project, the promotion of the institutions working on air and pollution to the youth and adults, the more effective expression of the work on the environment and air in our country and the European Union, the Paris agreement and the European green agreement, which are still on the agenda and are of vital importance in order to prevent environmental pollution, to the participants and subsequently to the wider transferring to the masses has taken place. Our project aimed to support young people, especially young people living in metropolitan cities, to get closer to nature, to enable them to renew and relax by touching soil and soil. By promoting the different cultures of the European Union, it was aimed to support the multicultural structure in the European Union and to develop a sense of EU citizenship.
