Objectives

The concept of sustainability is a concept that has deep meanings in environmental, social and economic dimensions. The starting point of this project was to understand this concept properly and to increase the awareness and consciousness of young people, especially on environmental issues, and to become more environmentally friendly individuals. Permaculture, which includes the principles based on a sustainable lifestyle, is a very powerful tool in today's world for the adoption of a nature-friendly lifestyle. The word permaculture comes from the combination of the English words permaculture, 'permanent agriculture', that is, 'permanent' and 'agriculture'. Permaculture is the conscious design and maintenance of agriculturally productive ecosystems that have the diversity, stability and resilience of natural ecosystems. It is the harmonious integration of the people living on it and the land that meets food, energy, shelter and other material and spiritual needs in a sustainable way. With this project, it was explained to young people and adults what the concept of permaculture is and how we can include permaculture principles in our lives. Permaculture-related practices, getting closer to nature, and explaining the importance of nature by getting away from big city life are among the main objectives of this project. With this project, it is planned for young people to take part in nature as producers, guides and changers. In this regard, the "desired behavioral change" has been achieved through many practice-based activities. Environment-friendly skills that young people can apply in their daily lives but are unlikely to learn through formal education were taught to them through project activities.
