According to the World Meteorological Organization's (WMO) Global Climate Status 2021 annual report, 2020 has been the 3rd hottest year and 2021 is the hottest 6th year in history. Such an increase in temperature brings along many global problems. One of them is the decrease in fresh water resources. The amount of accessible fresh water on the earth is less than 1 percent of the world's total water supply. However, sustainability of water resources lies at the heart of many areas such as food security, economic growth, and combating climate change. However, at the point we have reached today, water scarcity stands out as one of the biggest problems experienced by the whole world. Contrary to popular belief, Turkey is not a water rich country but “water-strapped country, even though 519 thousand m3 of water is falling per capita.
