Today, the concept of consumption is considered as an important phenomenon that shapes the lives of individuals with globalization. Although individuals think that they choose the products they will buy with their own will, the act of purchasing is actually shaped by the phenomenon of consumption. When determining their purchasing behavior, consumers are influenced by the behavioral patterns of the society that reflect the characteristics of the generation they are in, the influence of mass media and the sense of fashion. The fundamental force behind the phenomenon of consumption is people's wants, needs and desires that must be constantly satisfied. People meet their basic needs such as eating, drinking, sleeping and sheltering in order to survive. However, humans are social and psychological beings, so they also have complementary needs to regulate their relationships with people, such as social norms, desire for knowledge, personal appreciation, affection, competition, and togetherness. Each generation is influenced by general environmental factors and therefore exhibits different consumer attitudes and behaviors. These differences between generations arise from values determined by events and experiences throughout history. Environmental variables to which generations are exposed shape consumer attitudes and beliefs, which in turn influence purchasing habits. Particularly for members of Generation Y, consumption is now an integral part of their lifestyle. They determine which social class they belong to by the products they consume. For this generation, consumption is not an activity that cannot be considered separate from daily life, on the contrary, it has become a natural part of life. For them, a life without consumption is unthinkable. Moreover, consumption is not limited to the purchase of items and goods, but is also an activity that includes cultural processes. For Generation Y, the type of music they listen to, the movies they watch, the holiday destinations they choose, the electronic devices they use and even the water they shower with are objects of consumption. These preferences play an important role in determining their lifestyle and forming their identity. They express their own identities and the groups they belong to through consumption rituals and make others see this. For all these reasons, for Generation Y, consumption is a part of existence and a means of determining their status in social life and showing the class structure they belong to. In this context, by implementing our project, we wanted to contribute to the formation of consumption awareness among young people and to enable them to obtain information about the content, causes and consequences of waste. Our Goals Achieved with Our Project 1-Raising Awareness: We helped young people raise awareness about the environmental, social and economic impacts of their consumption habits and preferences. 2-Encouraging Responsible Consumption Behaviors: We tried to raise young people's awareness about sustainability and environmental impact and encourage responsible consumption habits. 3-Developing Knowledge and Skills: We acted to provide young people with the skills of conscious shopping and the knowledge and skills to use resources effectively. 4-Introducing Alternative Consumption Models: We introduced young people to alternative consumption models that do not focus only on purchasing goods and services and encouraged them to learn models such as the sharing economy. 5-Increasing Social Responsibility Awareness: We encouraged young people to think about the effects of their consumption decisions on society and the environment and contributed to increasing social responsibility awareness. 6-Developing Critical Thinking Ability: We tried to encourage young people to evaluate advertisements, marketing strategies and consumer tricks from a critical perspective. 7-Encouraging Participation: We aimed to encourage young people's active participation in the project and to include them in the process of determining their own consumption habits and preferences.
