Objectives

We had various goals that we wanted to achieve with the implementation of our project. During this process, we achieved our goals and completed the process and achieved successful results. In this regard, what we want to achieve by implementing our project is as follows; The image of women has been commodified from past to present. In TV series and movies on television screens, in shop windows, on billboards and in advertisements, things are mostly told and shown through women. However, what is told and shown makes societies think that women should only be interested in those areas and that their social duties and roles are limited to those areas. No one has ever seen a diaper commercial where a baby's diaper is changed by the father, or a formula commercial where the father feeds his baby and feeds him formula while the mother works outside. This causes family responsibilities to fall solely on the woman in the role of mother. The advertisements that children watch or are exposed to, especially when they are left in front of the television, can affect their future lives in many ways. Many advertisements attribute various responsibilities to women on many issues such as their powerlessness, family roles, pregnancy, motherhood and baby care. At the same time, it commodifies women. The visuals shown in this way determine different social roles for men and women and make people believe that they are happy when they live according to these roles. These effects are also observed in fairy tales, epics, myths and stories. Parents telling these stories to the children they raise, the advertisements, TV series and movies that children watch over time have a great impact on the psychological, emotional and social development of children and the formation of their mentality. These factors prevent the social roles created in the past from changing over time and separate people outside these roles from other people. In this context, our project, based on all this information, examined the social roles imposed on women and the commodification of women, especially with a structure that deals with advertisements. In this regard, the targets determined for our project are; - To ensure that gender stereotypes are examined in different countries, - To ensure the evaluation of advertisements, which is one of the mass media tools, - Raising awareness about gender roles and gender inequality, - Explaining that people can go beyond gender roles and that these roles can change over time, - To support the elimination of gender inequality, - Ensuring that youth workers are encouraged to participate in social volunteering activities, - To ensure that the target audience develops awareness about the roles of men and women that are tried to be imposed on them, - To ensure that young people learn about intercultural differences, - To ensure that social stereotypes about racism, discrimination and xenophobia are rethought and cleared of negative thoughts, - Supporting the use of non-formal learning methods, - To encourage people to be multilingual.
