The Erasmus+ programme is at the heart of the internationalisation strategy of the Pädagogische Hochschule Tirol (PHT) and contributes to the internationalisation of the institution. It is particularly important for initial teacher education institutions, whose mission is to educate and train teachers for primary, secondary and vocational education, to cooperate with partner universities and partner schools, to gain mutual insight into the systems and to learn from and with each other in order to train future teachers in the best possible way. The active exchange with partner universities and the mobilities of teachers and students facilitate this learning effect. We wanted our students to learn from best practice and to gain relevant study and practical experience in long term and blended short term mobilities. We wanted to give our lecturers and staff the opportunity to teach at partner institutions and to exchange ideas and knowledge with colleagues in their field of work. Furthermore, the institution aimed to benefit from incoming mobility, especially with regard to Internationalisation@home. Non-mobile students and teachers were able to share their expertise with colleagues from all over Europe.
