With the execution of this project, the St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences pursues the objective of sustainably implementing and further developing the strategic guidelines of its UAS strategy – including its internationalisation strategy – as well as the goals laid down in the Erasmus Policy Statement. Moreover, the St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences is the coordinator of the European University Alliance “E³UDRES²” which pursues an internationalisation strategy that is closely coordinated with the St. Pölten UAS. On these grounds, the St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences applies for Erasmus+ KA131 projects on an annual basis. The project 2023 aimed to systematically promote the individual mobility of students and staff members in line with the abovementioned strategy, thus contributing to the implementation of its international strategy. The key objectives are the following: 1) Increase of physical and virtual mobilities for students and staff in consideration of the quality criteria in order to allow all students to gain international experiences; 2) Close cooperation with relevant partner universities, especially the partners within the “E³UDRES²” network; 3) Involvement in national and international research projects; 4) Enriching (knowledge transfer) projects that promote internationalisation within our own country; 5) Strengthening of intercultural competencies; and 6) Broadening of perspectives from the regional level to the European dimension. Special emphasis was on creating low-threshold mobility offers that are open to all students, lecturers, and staff members and that are secured through adequate financial assistance. In this context, the Erasmus programme constitutes the central pillar that enables diverse international experiences. It is particularly important to also create mobility opportunities for students who study part-time, who have care responsibilities, or who are enrolled in study programmes – for example, in the health sciences – which are restricted in their curricula due to provisions under professional law. The objective is to create framework conditions that are as inclusive and flexible as possible and that make international mobility accessible for all. Nevertheless, it remains the institution’s main goal to facilitate long-term (semester) mobilities for as many students as possible because these have a higher impact. The strategic goals of the St. Pölten UAS and of the “E³UDRES²” alliance were and still are being consistently pursued through research and teaching projects under Erasmus+ and further EU funding programmes. The St. Pölten UAS strives to further expand its international activities both qualitatively and quantitatively. Promoting an open culture of learning and innovation is at the centre, and the key principles are interdisciplinarity, internationality, and innovative capacity. The objective is to contribute to the development of a knowledge-based, open society and to create the basis for lifelong learning. The project was implemented in close coordination with the university’s strategic targets and its contents are in full conformity with the institution’s strategy.
