Objectives

The Erasmus+-KA131 project was a central instrument for implementing the internationalisation strategy of FHWien der WKW - University of Applied Sciences. This strategy is based on three fundamental pillars: 1) mobility, 2) cooperation and 3) internationalisation at home. The Erasmus+ programme plays a key role in the area of mobility: in the reporting period, it covered around 80% of student mobility and more than 90% of staff mobility. FHWien der WKW supports the following objectives of the European Commission through mobility within the framework of the programme: • Students learn new views, knowledge, teaching methods and working practices in an international environment • Students further develop their interdisciplinary competences, such as communication skills, foreign language skills and problem solving • Students gain expertise in the future-oriented areas of digitalisation and ecology • Students benefit for their personal development. Furthermore, the project supports the goal of enabling university staff to • Network with colleagues abroad • Pass on and exchange knowledge and working practices • Experience new teaching and working environments • Acquire new professional, didactic and digital skills. The project also pursued the goal of networking university members at all levels internationally and strengthening FHWien der WKW's formalised and active university partnerships. FHWien der WKW acknowledges the importance of international experience by including mobility windows in 95% of its study programmes. A mandatory semester abroad is an integral part of the curriculum for all full-time Bachelor's students. The increase in international study and internship placements made possible by Erasmus+ demonstrates the success of these measures. While long-term mobility remained a strategic priority, short-term mobility as part of Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programmes is an important addition. The Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programmes also give part-time students access to international experience. Financial support for participants through Erasmus+ continued to grow in importance in the reporting year. In line with the university's strategic objectives, the project also contributed to a significant increase in staff mobility.
