Objectives

A central goal was to ensure that young people in Vorarlberg - regardless of their background, educational level, or social status - had access to international non-formal learning opportunities. Particular emphasis was placed on enabling the active participation of young people with fewer opportunities, for example due to economic, geographic, or social disadvantage. Targeted inclusive measures were implemented to reduce barriers, foster empowerment, and support individual learning processes. In addition, aha Jugendinfo aimed to sustainably strengthen the quality of international youth work in the region. Through cross-border exchange, collaborative projects, and structured reflection, both youth workers and young people were encouraged to acquire new methods, perspectives, and competencies. European networking was actively promoted to build long-term partnerships and integrate innovative approaches into regional youth work. Another key concern was to make the European dimension in youth work more visible and tangible. Young people should not perceive Europe merely as a political construct, but as a shared space for shaping the future. The projects provided space to engage with topics such as democracy, sustainability, diversity, human rights, and European values. In doing so, they contributed to fostering the active participation of young people in social and political life. Specifically, the individual activities pursued the following objectives: • The youth exchange “SDG Youth Exchange: Skills to go(als)” aimed to raise awareness of global interconnections and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), to empower young people to act as multipliers by planning and implementing SDG-related projects in their home countries, and to strengthen cooperation and networking among participants and their partner organizations. • The youth encounter “Schneeperspektiven” (Snow-perspectives) focused on creating access to nature and experiential learning spaces while promoting intercultural understanding and togetherness. • The exchange “Intercultural Youth Exchange with a Focus on Preventing Radicalisation” in Tortona centered on intercultural learning and addressing the everyday realities of radicalisation among young people. • “Walser Storytelling” combined creative media and experiential education to explore cultural identity among geographically disadvantaged youth, both in a local and European context. • “Medienwelten erleben“ (Exploring Media Worlds) enabled young people to engage critically and confidently with digital media while developing media literacy skills. • The job shadowing activity “Jugendarbeitslebenswelten“ (Youth Work Realities) supported the professional development of youth workers by offering insights into the diverse settings of open youth work in the region. Overall, the project year 2023 was dedicated to promoting individual learning processes, enabling participation, strengthening resilience and self-efficacy, and embedding European values into the everyday lives of young people. The implemented projects directly contributed to the core goals of the accreditation strategy and played a significant role in the qualitative advancement of international youth work in Vorarlberg.
