Objectives

Background and Objectives According to the definition of the United Nations, a refugee is "a person who has a well-founded fear of being persecuted for reasons of race, religion, nationality, membership of a particular social group or political opinion, and who, having left his or her country because of such fear, is unable or unwilling to return. In the pre-migration process, refugees experience many traumatic events due to war or other acts of violence. They are exposed to or witness human rights violations such as bombings, armed attacks, torture, sexual violence, injuries and killings; death of relatives and loved ones; oppression based on ethnicity, religion or sect; inability to access basic needs such as food and drink, shelter and medical services; being forced to leave their homes and countries; being searched, imprisoned and forced labour. The migration process, on the other hand, involves people fleeing from an environment of violence and relocating within the country or migrating to another country. Mostly leaving family members behind and travelling with very few belongings, refugees are exposed to many difficult situations. These include lack of access to food and clean water, contracting various diseases and not receiving medical care, being exploited by smugglers and the danger of being caught. In the post-migration process, refugees face many difficult living conditions. Problems in determining their legal status in the country of origin; inability to access health and social service organisations or to benefit from existing services due to language barriers; intense anxiety about the family they left behind; language barrier; encountering a new culture; change of social status; negative attitudes of the host community such as discrimination and exclusion are the most common examples of these difficulties. In this context, our project was implemented with the aim of analysing the living conditions, physical and mental health, social, economic and educational status of refugees and raising awareness of people on this issue. Thanks to the activities carried out within the scope of our project, it was ensured that the participants, the target group and the participating organisations gain sensitivity to the problems faced by refugees throughout their lives and raise awareness about the social problems they face by empathising. In this context, the objectives achieved with our project are as follows: 1-Awareness was raised about the social and social problems faced by refugees. 2-It was ensured to empathise with the problems faced by refugees and to create sensitivity towards the difficult conditions they live in. 3-It was contributed to ensure that refugees can be integrated into social life and to raise awareness about improving their quality of life. 4-Efforts were made to raise awareness in order to eliminate prejudiced attitudes towards refugees. 5-It was contributed to prevent the discrimination caused by the word "refugee" and its use as an adjective to characterise people and to raise awareness on this issue. 6-Participants were made aware of the Erasmus Plus Programmes and the function of the Youthpass Certificate. 7-Participants were supported to improve their individual skills. 8-The necessary work was done in order for the participants to communicate in English. 9-Participants were enabled to communicate with people with different cultural beliefs, customs and traditions, practices and habits, and were supported to move away from their prejudices. 10-It was contributed to the participants with fewer opportunities to benefit from Erasmus Plus Programme opportunities. 11-It was contributed to the participants to improve their digital skills within the scope of virtual studies. 12-Participants were made aware of green life, ecological balance, sustainable environment and green protection. 13-Participants were encouraged to act in solidarity through teamwork, to be open to different ideas and interpretations, and to develop empathy and respect.
