The project “Digital Youth Participation” was dedicated to the need to invest in youth, and raise the youth participation in social life by using digital technology. As digital media and networks play a significant role in our contemporary life regarding communication, our work-life and knowledge production, we believe that by creating this project we could emphasize the benefits of the digital world. However, all partner organizations involved in this project (Sport- und Kultur Verein "NEUER START, Austria; Youth Center of Georgia, Georgia; Creative Youth, Armenia; Patras Youth Club, Greece; NGO Non-formal Education for Youth, Ukraine; Friends Against Racism, Czech Republic) wanted to highlight also the problems caused by digital technologies in case of inappropriate and uncontrolled usage. The main aim of the youth exchange project “Digital Youth Participation” was to raise awareness of the youth about using digital technologies as an instrument of active participation in changing society. Our main objectives were: - Enhance critical thinking and media literacy among young people to strengthen democracy and fight manipulation, propaganda, and fake news; - To create a shared knowledge of how young people's digital involvement impacts their sense of civic responsibility, sense of leadership in the community, and social activism; - To prevent and limit the risks associated with the use of digital technologies in the social media/web platforms most frequented by youth; - to encourage young people to create innovative methods by using role-playing, circle time, and "Digital Citizenship" tools; - To promote Erasmus + opportunities; - To share effective methods in preventing racism and intolerance among youth, and in addressing the risks, opportunities, and implications of digitalization. - Promoting quality, innovation, and recognition of youth; Our objective was to impact not only the individuals involved but also their local, national, regional, and European communities. We hoped that by uniting young people from different backgrounds, we would promote better knowledge and acceptance of multiculturalism, also share different experiences and encourage youngsters to actively participate in social changes by using digital technologies.
