Project Objectives and Aims Primary Aim: The primary aim of our project was to significantly enhance young people's understanding of environmental issues, focusing on climate change and social responsibility. We sought to raise awareness among young people about these critical topics, increasingly prominent on both the global and European Union agendas. By providing detailed information about carbon footprints, we aimed to equip participants with the knowledge needed to make informed decisions and take meaningful actions in their daily lives. Organizational Background: Our organization, IEC Austria, has a rich history of representing the country in numerous international climate change projects. Our host, Kargenc Club, has been actively involved in environmental projects, promoting healthy lifestyles, and protecting water resources. They have participated in various activities in these fields both as partners and participants. This collaborative background provided a strong foundation for the project's implementation, leveraging our collective expertise and experience. Project Objectives: Through this project, we aimed to achieve several key goals for participants and local communities, aligning with the broader objectives of the European Union and its member states. Our goals included: - Increasing awareness of climate change, environmental protection, and carbon emissions through a multifaceted approach involving seminars, posters, slogans, media, and social media campaigns. - Educating participants and the local community about the concept of carbon footprints, how to calculate and reduce. - Providing comprehensive information on actions and practices that harm the natural cycle, fostering a deeper understanding of environmental issues. Organizing activities such as tree planting, village visits, nature hikes, environmental cleanups, and cultural events to promote active lifestyles and environmental stewardship. Ensuring the active use of English among participants to facilitate better communication and cultural exchange. - Conducting a carbon footprint test for participants, allowing them to evaluate their impact on the environment and gain insights into the local community's climate challenges. Creating a table of behaviors that harm and do not harm nature, providing participants with new information and news about environmental issues. Organizing a t-shirt painting activity to highlight and publicize the damage caused by climate change to the environment and ecosystem, coupled with a garbage collection activity to raise awareness. Examining current natural events directly linked to climate change and organizing activities to discuss measures and actions that can be taken to cope with these events. - Encouraging active lifestyles through morning exercises, cultural nights, walking tours, and environmental cleanup activities. These activities not only promoted health and wellness but also positively influenced local residents. Facilitating the active use of English in all activities while also encouraging participants to teach each other simple and everyday words and sentences in their native languages.
