The Europahaus Pulkau and the 5 partners from Ukraine, Romania, Italy, Hungary and the Czech Republic proposed creating a quality project with the “SMART Lifestyle” youth exchange in which young people can find solutions to certain common, current and pressing problems that they face. These topics related to the well-being of young people in Europe, to a healthy, sustainable and environmentally friendly lifestyle. Our aim was to make participants aware that their health, the health of young people, is a fundamental concern at the European level, as it affects not only the lives of young people, but also the future of Europe as a whole. Young people's unhealthy lifestyles, which include tobacco, alcohol and poor diet, can lead to illness, disability and even premature death. It was important that this project addressed these issues to ensure a healthier and more prosperous future for young people. The aim of the project was to develop young people to behave responsibly towards their health and the environment. This goal was achieved as the project had the following successfully achieved objectives: a) increasing the level of key competencies of young people related to a healthy lifestyle through non-formal methods; b) promoting habits and behaviors of exercise, healthy, sustainable and environmentally friendly nutrition among young people; c) developing lifestyle management skills among participants; d) promoting diversity, intercultural dialogue and common European values of freedom and inclusion; e) Promote the concept of a healthy, sustainable and environmentally friendly lifestyle in the communities where the partner organizations/groups operate. Through non-formal learning methods, we wanted to provide participants with knowledge and skills related to a healthy lifestyle. This included understanding nutrition, the importance of physical activity and dealing with stress. The main idea was to give young people tools to make better and more informed decisions about their health. Another important part of the project was to promote an environmentally friendly lifestyle. We wanted to teach young people to choose environmentally friendly means of transport, reduce resource consumption and contribute to environmental protection. As with any youth exchange, we wanted to place a strong focus on promoting diversity and intercultural dialogue in this project. Participants came from different countries, which provided a unique opportunity to learn and understand other cultures. We wanted to promote European values of freedom and inclusion and contribute to the development of a more united community. The project also included an important aspect related to bullying and stigma based on appearance. We wanted to promote an anti-bullying stance and educate young people about the importance of respect for every individual, regardless of their physical appearance. By achieving these goals, the SMART Lifestyle project aimed to contribute to improving the health and well-being of young Europeans, promoting a healthy and sustainable lifestyle and creating increased awareness of the importance of health and the environment. We are committed to giving young people the tools and knowledge they need to live healthier, more balanced lives.
