Context The Brussels Royal Academy of Fine Arts is at an important point in its long and rich history ( 300 years in 2011 ). This has enabled the Academy to inherit a long tradition of artistic practices which have evolved in diversity and scope. New methods of teaching have been brought forward here and today we are situated in a complex international higher education system within a pedagogical, artistic and professional dimension. The Brussels Royal Academy of Fine Arts has been actively involved in the Erasmus programme for more than 20 years now. Since it's beginnings there has been an important internationalisation of our students at the Academy. More than half our student population is from outside of Belgium. Objective Our objective is to enable students to develop their artistic projects in an European and international context. The experience of an Erasmus mobility forces the student to take actions and make important decisions in another environment. There is also an another more humane and cultural dimension, to live an a different cultural environment for a couple of months enables the students to have a better grasp on the educational, cultural and artistic contexts. The mobility is then added on to the students CV, underlining their dynamism, skills, and adaptablity. These mobilites enable the students to widen their network at an international level. As for the internships they greatly help the students to make contacts with the professional world and enhance the chances to work internationally.
