Objectives

- Content of this project: Lifelong learning in the fields of Educational Sciences (BW) as well as Health and Nursing Sciences (GKW) in cooperation with European institutions (colleges, universities, hospitals, and university clinics). The mobilities were used for study purposes, internships for learners, and teaching and training purposes for staff. - Background of the project: As the AHS is the only university in the German-speaking region of Belgium and naturally has limited internship opportunities, the possibility of cooperating with Erasmus+ is both highly important and interesting. The expansion of practical, job-related competences goes hand in hand with a broadened and more reflective perspective on one’s own work and working environment. Both aspects are of considerable benefit to all participants. - Objectives: In the field of Health and Nursing Sciences (GKW), the goal is for students to be able to complement and deepen their practical experience gained at AHS and in local hospitals during their studies by going abroad. Through their European stay abroad during the 6th semester, students should become acquainted with care systems, nursing techniques, and ward-based nursing work that do not exist in Eastern Belgium. They should gain experience in larger hospitals with specific clinical pictures or therapeutic approaches targeting special groups, which—due to population density in large cities—receive greater attention. In the field of Educational Sciences (BW), students should acquire knowledge during a stay abroad—whether for study or internship purposes—that may not be provided at AHS. Regarding staff mobility, personnel from both disciplines should continue to be involved in European educational programs by participating in training, seminars, and workshops, as well as through their proactive engagement in research projects in Europe. As a partner of various institutions, AHS should continue to promote and maintain exchanges with them and increase the number of partners in order to gain more influence at the European level.
