Objectives

The “Hors les Murs” project aimed to overcome the physical, psychological and social barriers that limit the personal development and social cohesion of young people, whether they have a disability or not. Our ambition was to create an environment where each participant could feel supported, recognized for their uniqueness and encouraged to exceed their own limits. The specific objectives of the project were: 1. Promote Meeting and Mutual Learning: We wanted to bring together young people with and without disabilities in a space where exchange and mutual learning would be at the heart of the interactions. Through collaborative activities, we wanted to break stereotypes and promote understanding of differences. 2. Encouraging Social Inclusion: One of our main objectives was to ensure that young people with disabilities are fully integrated into leisure activities and youth projects. To do this, we have created a suitable and inclusive environment, allowing everyone to actively participate. 3. Develop Personal and Social Skills: Using methods inspired by non-formal learning, such as debates, introspection, collective achievements and collaborative games, we aimed to strengthen self-esteem, self-confidence and autonomy of young participants. 4. Raising Society's Awareness of Inclusion: Finally, we wanted to use this project to raise awareness among young people and public authorities of the importance of including people with disabilities. We sought to change perceptions and attitudes towards people with disabilities, showing their potential and importance in youth projects and intercultural exchanges. In summary, the “Hors les Murs” project sought not only to foster the personal development of young people, but also to promote a culture of inclusion and solidarity within youth groups and society as a whole.
