Objectives

The main objective of our StreetSmart Seminar and Conference was to bring together and empower youth workers and street educators who have an opportunity-focused approach and are willing to innovate. Given the devastating effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, social exclusion and uncertainty caused by ongoing conflicts such as the war in Ukraine, youth workers constantly need to adapt to ever-changing realities of their target groups. That's why StreetSmart aimed to enhance the agility and innovative spirit of these youth workers during the project. More specifically, our project sought to: 1. Boost the motivation of the attending youth workers by being able to share about their work and by being recognized for the work they are doing on a daily basis. 2. Foster connections and build a network among individual youth workers and street educators to share challenges and exchange best practices before, during and after the project. 3. Create a strong European alliance of innovative youth work organizations to continue improving youth work tools and methodologies, ensuring they meet the rapidly changing needs of practitioners in the field and the youth they support. 4. Share innovative practices for inclusive youth work, focusing on topics such as changemaker leadership, children’s rights, play-based learning, and working with marginalized groups such as Roma and refugees. 5. Receive detailed feedback on the rapidly changing needs of youth workers and youth work organisations, which can be valuable input for the design of future R&D projects.
