Objectives

Our objectives for this activity were: To raise awareness about sustainability and climate change between the participants To empower participants to take action about climate change in their local groups To create a positive environment where participants exchange their ecologic concerns and good practices to accomplish a sustainable way of living To achieve an understanding and tolerance of european and other cultures among participants To help local communities in Brasov and Rasnov to improve their environment and encourage participants to do so in their hometown To see the value of other practices and cultures To use less energy and reduce consumption, promoting by example the possibility of a healthy and sustainable camp To help the participants develop activities for their local groups, which bring sustainability closer to the local groups and children In short, we wanted to create a youth camp where participants were encouraged to take action and search solutions that could tackle climate change and global warming, while creating positive relationships between people from different backgrounds and cultures. We truly believe that youth have the potential to become active, empowered and to take responsibility for their society. By teaching by example that lots of positive outcomes in local communities were possible by engaging little actions and practices, we expected that the participants would realise that their decisions and consequences are meaningful to improve their local groups. We also wanted to focus on educating the participants through workshops about environmental awareness, social involvement and good ecological practices and how local communities in Romania are tackling their ecological concerns and their methods to do so. We aimed to encourage participants to connect with nature and to discover and experience the wonderful forests and environment that Romania had to offer, that in many cases, many people couldn’t have been able to experience in their hometown. Also, we wanted to promote the care and nurture of the forests, engaging litter collection and route maintenance among the participants, broadening their experience with nature. Finally, we believed that this camp is a great opportunity for participants to interact with different people and to discover new cultures and traditions that may be really different from what they were used to. We aimed to create a positive and multicultural environment for them based on respect and tolerance to each other.
