Our objective was threefold: First we wanted to develop a common vision and approach when working around active citizenship with youth actors between KIYO and LC. We wanted to enrich our own way of looking by mirroring ourselves to another organisation working around the same theme but in a different context. Secondly, we wanted to optimise our existing accompaniment on active citizenships for youth actors. We wanted to bring all our best practices together and bundle them in a toolbox which serves as a practical guide for facilitators who will directly work with youth around 'active citizenship'. Lastly, we aimed to stimulate connections across European professionals working directly with youth around active citizenship by organising an interactive workshop. We wanted to include even some professionals that are linked to the formal education sector, to also connect these two sectors withing education. KIYO also specifically wanted to be introduced to the large network of LC.
We applied for this project since we wanted to increase and expand our knowledge & tools on active citizenship by setting up a partnership between KIYO & Lianes Coopération (LC) from the perspective of mutual learning and by learning from other European experts in this field. Our expertise on active citizenship was scattered within both our organisations and this project offered us the great opportunity to structure all this knowledge and bundle it in a toolbox. We also often feel that if someone leaves the organisation, a lot of knowledge & expertise is lost because of lack of capitalization.
