The project is fully focused on the needs of students to receive a higher quality professional education, to develop professional skills and personal competencies needed to overcome the social isolation in which young people in small settlements are, to be better prepared for life after graduation of our school. The planned activities represent a small step towards the achievement of these goals, for which the school is working in a long-term perspective. The activities are also aimed at two more concrete and realistic goals: expanding the spectrum of international partnerships for the exchange of experience and good practices, as well as updating the educational content and teaching in accordance with the needs of business. These are tasks, the implementation of which is directly related to how successfully and effectively the planned educational practice will end and will be an indicator of the success of the project as a whole.
The professional high school for tourism and food industry "St. St. Cyril and Methodius", city of Momchilgrad, offers training in professions that meet the economic profile of our region and provide employment in the following fields: production of bread, culinary products and beverages; hospitality; restaurant business; clothing manufacturing. More than 80% of our students come from ethnic minorities - mainly Turks, but also Roma. Socially - most of them come from disadvantaged families - with low incomes, poorly educated, sometimes long-term unemployed. This is also the social profile of a very large part of the population in our border town. Obtaining a professional qualification that can guarantee employment is the only chance for young people to improve their social status and help their families. That is why participating in international professional practice is an opportunity that is of such essential importance to our students.
