Objectives

Through the implementation of this project, we aimed to achieve several key objectives aligned with both our institutional priorities and the overall goals of the Erasmus+ programme: Increasing participation of students and staff: One of our main goals was to raise the number of students and staff involved in international exchanges. This included providing more opportunities for academic and professional development through studies, internships, and teaching at foreign institutions. By organizing information days and actively promoting the programme, we aimed to encourage more of our students, lecturers, and staff to take advantage of the opportunities Erasmus+ offers. Strengthening international cooperation and SWU’s global presence, and expanding our partnership network: The project focused on building long-term partnerships with educational institutions from various countries, including those outside the European Union. Supporting sustainable development through green initiatives: The inclusion of the "Erasmus+ Forest" as part of the project was our way of supporting the European Commission’s environmental policies and engaging students in environmental protection activities. We installed birdhouses bearing the flags of all the countries from which we hosted incoming students. Modernizing mobility management processes: By implementing systems such as the EWP Dashboard and joining EduGain, our goal was to improve and streamline mobility management. This included the digitalization of learning agreement processes and other administrative tasks, making procedures easier for both students and staff. Enhancing cultural exchange and integration of international students: The organization of cultural events and orientation days aimed to support the integration of international students and enrich their understanding of Bulgarian culture. Through visits to historical and cultural sites and the arrangement of social activities, we aimed to facilitate cultural exchange and create a welcoming and supportive academic environment. Improving staff capacity: Training sessions for our faculty coordinators and the signing of new inter-institutional agreements aimed to strengthen our staff’s ability to work effectively within the Erasmus+ programme and support their role in managing mobility activities. Strengthening the connection between SWU and the Bulgarian diaspora abroad: Through this project, we sought to improve the relationship between SWU and the Bulgarian diaspora abroad. We signed cooperation agreements with several schools and have already begun implementing student and staff exchange initiatives. With these goals, we aimed not only to improve the quality of international exchange and academic cooperation but also to contribute to long-term sustainable development, the modernization of processes, and the strengthening of SWU’s ties with the Bulgarian diaspora abroad — a key component of our Internationalization Strategy.
