Through the Erasmus+ project, the University of Ruse sought to advance its internationalisation and modernisation strategy by: • expanding and strengthening international cooperation via teacher, staff, and student mobility, recognised as a key instrument for integration into the European Education Area, • ensuring benefits for non-mobile participants, • enhancing reciprocal mobility, • broadening its partnership network geographically, in order to provide diverse mobility opportunities and address students’ mobility requests, • fostering spin-off project initiatives, • improving curricula and enhancing their international dimension in line with the modernisation strategy, • promoting collaboration between research and business, • supporting students in their career aspirations within the European labour market by strengthening their knowledge, language, and intercultural skills, • increasing staff qualifications through exchange of experience, best practices, and know-how, • reinforcing the University’s European identity, visibility, and competitiveness at regional, national, and international levels, while upholding the Erasmus Charter principles and adhering to programme guidelines and instructions from the National Erasmus Agency, • contributing to the European Education Area’s core objectives: making mobility accessible to all, improving recognition of study periods abroad, strengthening language skills, encouraging transnational cooperation (including European Universities, where the University of Ruse is already actively engaged), and promoting innovation, • aligning with EU priorities such as encouraging sustainable travel, using digital tools, supporting participants with fewer opportunities, and fostering critical thinking and active citizenship. To accomplish these objectives, the University of Ruse relies on its established structures and contact persons for bilateral agreements, complemented by new coordinators. Many of the institutions involved have been long-standing collaborators under framework agreements and other initiatives, and this project has played a significant role in further strengthening these partnerships
