Through implementing the Rebuilding Lives by Supporting Breast Cancer Survivors with Career and Health Goals project, we aimed to empower breast cancer survivors aged 30-55 by enhancing their physical and mental health and helping them build critical skills for societal and workforce reintegration. This project sought to address the unique challenges these women face post-remission, including physical recovery, mental well-being and re-skilling for labor market demands. Our key objectives were to increase survivors' resilience, employability, and overall quality of life. By conducting targeted research, we aimed to identify their specific needs, which would then inform a customized training program. Additionally, the project intended to foster social inclusion by building awareness and reducing the stigma often associated with breast cancer recovery. By collaborating with local and and international partner, we aspired to create a supportive network and sustainable resources to ensure survivors have access to ongoing assistance, skill-building and community support.
"One in 8" foundation and its partner applied for this project due to a strong commitment to supporting breast cancer survivors in overcoming significant personal and societal challenges. The project, Rebuilding Lives by Supporting Breast Cancer Survivors with Career and Health Goals, addresses key needs faced by women aged 30-55 who are in remission. Many survivors confront not only physical and mental health challenges but also barriers to reintegration into the workforce due to prolonged treatment, stigma, and gaps in relevant skills. This project’s objectives align closely with the mission of the "One in 8" foundation to provide tailored support in these areas. By conducting research and developing a training program focused on physical and mental health and career skill acquisition, the project fills a critical gap in available resources. Furthermore, the project fosters social inclusion by raising awareness and creating an accessible support network, especially benefiting women from rural or disadvantaged backgrounds. My participation aims to contribute to these efforts, empowering survivors through resources, training, and social support to reintegrate into society and achieve long-term personal and professional stability.
