Objectives

The main objective of implementing the project “Mobility of Higher Education Students and Staff supported by internal policy funds (KA131-HED)” was to strengthen the internationalisation strategy of Frederick University by offering its students and staff high-quality mobility opportunities within the Erasmus+ framework. Through this project, we aimed to enhance the academic, professional, and personal development of participants, foster institutional partnerships, and contribute to the wider goals of the European Education Area. At student level, the project sought to provide opportunities for both study and traineeship mobilities that would enable participants to acquire new academic knowledge, intercultural competences, and practical skills relevant to their future careers. By participating in mobility, students were expected to develop adaptability, independence, problem-solving abilities, and foreign language skills — qualities that are increasingly valued in today’s competitive labour market. The project also aimed to encourage inclusion and equal opportunities by ensuring that all students, including those with fewer opportunities, had access to mobility schemes. For staff, the objective was to create opportunities for professional development through both teaching and training mobilities. Staff mobilities aimed at improving pedagogical approaches, fostering the exchange of good practices, and strengthening collaboration with partner institutions. These opportunities were designed not only to build individual staff capacity but also to generate long-term benefits for the institution by integrating new teaching methodologies, expanding academic networks, and reinforcing the quality of education provided at Frederick University. In terms of institutional development, the project aimed to consolidate and expand partnerships with European universities through bilateral agreements. These collaborations were expected to promote knowledge sharing, strengthen research and innovation synergies, and enhance Frederick University’s role in the international higher education landscape. Furthermore, the project intended to support the university’s compliance with the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE) by ensuring transparent selection processes, recognition of learning outcomes, and the provision of comprehensive support services to all participants. The project was also designed to address Erasmus+ horizontal priorities. Special emphasis was placed on encouraging the use of sustainable means of travel wherever possible, integrating digital tools into mobility management, and promoting digital competencies among participants. Inclusion and diversity were supported through targeted information campaigns and guidance for students with fewer opportunities, while staff were encouraged to integrate democratic values and civic engagement activities into their teaching and training experiences. Ultimately, the project aimed to deliver impact at multiple levels. For students and staff, it provided transformative academic, professional, and personal experiences. For Frederick University, it reinforced internationalisation, improved the quality of teaching and learning, and aligned institutional practices with European higher education priorities. For partner institutions and society at large, the project contributed to building stronger cross-border collaborations, fostering intercultural understanding, and developing graduates and professionals equipped with the skills to address global challenges. In conclusion, the implementation of this project was intended to support the strategic objectives of Erasmus+, particularly the promotion of learning mobility, the strengthening of cooperation across Europe, and the pursuit of excellence and inclusion in higher education.
