Objectives

By implementing the Erasmus+ project on Body Image and Self-Esteem, the overarching goal was to address the significant impact that negative body image and low self-esteem can have on individuals' mental and emotional wellbeing. The objectives of the project were multifaceted: 1. Raise Awareness: To identify and raise awareness about the factors contributing to negative body image and low self-esteem, emphasizing their impact on mental health. 2. Educate and Provide Resources: To provide access to educational resources and support networks for individuals struggling with body image and self-esteem issues, thereby empowering them to improve their mental wellbeing. 3. Create a Supportive Community: To create a safe and supportive community where individuals can share experiences, seek advice, and connect with others facing similar challenges, fostering a sense of solidarity and mutual support. 4. Promote Healthy Attitudes: To encourage healthy attitudes and behaviors towards body image and self-esteem, such as promoting self-care, self-acceptance, and positive self-talk. 5. Foster Critical Thinking and Initiative: To increase critical thinking skills and sense of initiative among young people, empowering them to challenge negative societal norms and promote positive change in their communities. 6. Enhance NGO Capacities: To help NGOs increase their capacities to address body image and self-esteem issues on an international level, thereby fostering the development and implementation of effective projects in this field. 7. Promote Non-formal Education: To promote non-formal education among young people as a means of addressing body image and self-esteem issues and promoting social inclusion and solidarity. 8. Dissemination and Networking: To disseminate project activities through a toolkit and workshops in local communities, and to support networking cooperation between partner organizations to increase their international capacity and impact. In summary, the project aimed to educate, support, and empower individuals, particularly youth workers and young people, to address negative body image and low self-esteem through awareness-raising, education, resource provision, community building, and advocacy efforts. Ultimately, the project sought to promote positive attitudes towards body image and self-esteem, contributing to improved mental health and wellbeing on individual, community, and societal levels.
