By implementing the project, Oxygonos’ primary objective was to adapt Cyprus Forum, an annual, independed, ambitious and not-for-profit conference on policymaking and participation, to become more youth friendly, with the aim to increase youth participation in democratic life. In order to achieve increased participation from young people, we designed, prepared, implemented and followed-up activities designed to attract young people to participate in events under Cyprus Forum. The changes needed were several, starting from selecting the subject to diversify the way panels were conducted. Transparency was a topic highly discussed during the 2021-2022, thus we chose it as the main thematic of Cyprus Forum 2023. We believed that the general population, and especially young people, would be interested in the topic and anxious to get answers about how we can tackle governance issues through Transparency. By implementing the project, we aimed on structural changes on the implementation strategy of Cyprus Forum. The project would enable us to spread in the city of Nicosia and host panels in several accessible and youth friendly places, other than conference rooms. By implementing the project, Cyprus Forum - Youth Forum, we aimed to make young people understand that their opinion matters and their voice can be heard when they choose to participate in democratic procedures. Through the activities implemented, young people will come across several sub-topics under the topic of Transparency which will enable them understand their value and importance for our society. Specific goals of the project were the following: - Reach out experts and decision makers who interest young people and organise public activities to attract the participation of young people - Organise at least 9 activities related to transparency, in several venues with the aim to motivate young people to become active members of the society - Give priority to young people as participants to Cyprus Forum 2023 - Informing at least 1500 citizens, out of which 700 will be young people, about the importance of Transparency for our island and the EU in general - Involvement in each activity of at least 15 young people who are interested or just curious about Transparency and its application to a democratic state
