Objectives

The project aimed to strengthen the employability and entrepreneurship skills of young musicians with fewer opportunities and to help them navigate the transition from music education to professional practice. It sought to create a bridge between artistic learning and labour-market readiness by offering structured training and mentorship opportunities. Specifically, InMus set out to: – Provide career guidance and job-skills training through a tailored training series – Offer hands-on learning through job-shadowing experiences with professional musicians – Develop a methodological guide for youth workers and music educators to support career guidance in their contexts – Produce video tutorials to make the training content accessible to young musicians internationally By combining face-to-face and digital learning, the project promoted inclusion, access, and equal opportunities in the music sector.

Background

The InMus project was developed in response to the growing need for employability support among young musicians with fewer opportunities who participate in Sistema inspired socio-music programmes. While these initiatives provide free, high-quality musical training, many of their advanced students reach a point where they must decide whether and how to pursue music professionally, yet lack access to career guidance, labour-market knowledge, and opportunities to experience the realities of working in the music industry. Through InMus, the partner organisations sought to bridge this gap by equipping young musicians with practical job skills and real-life exposure. The project addressed these needs by offering targeted training in marketing, financial literacy, and self-promotion, alongside hands-on job-shadowing experiences with professional musicians across diverse performance settings. This combination aimed to empower participants to view their musical abilities not only as a form of artistic expression but also as a pathway to professional and economic independence.
