Through concrete examples of the work of all the participants in the project, we wanted to show how surplus textiles can be disposed of gently and how they can be reused on a small scale in our households. By developing simple instructions, we not only wanted to pass on our knowledge and experience, but also to inspire the widest possible professional and lay public to use discarded clothing in a creative and efficient way, which would otherwise mostly end up in landfills.
From a broader perspective, our project focuses on the efficient management of material resources; in our case, ecological use of textile materials, including their recycling and upcycling. New creative use of discarded and otherwise surplus clothing, fabric remnants, and other materials poses a substantial artistic challenge for all participants. Consequently, the school emphasizes not only their effective processing but also their high aesthetic quality, which breathes new life into the old.
