By implementing the project, our main objective was to strengthen the internationalization of the university, deepen cooperation with both existing and new international partners, and improve VSB-TUO’s position in international rankings. At the same time, we aimed to ensure that the mobility experience increases the employability of our students and contributes to the professional and personal development of staff. These specific goals are closely linked to the key horizontal priorities of the Erasmus+ programme, in particular inclusion and diversity, digital transformation, environmental sustainability and civic engagement, ensuring that the activities carried out not only respond to the institutional needs, but also contribute to the development of these European values. Internationalization is one of the long-term priorities of VSB – Technical University of Ostrava and is firmly embedded in the university’s key strategic documents, in particular the Strategic Plan of VSB-TUO 2021–2027. The Erasmus+ programme, as one of the most important European Union instruments supporting the internationalization of education, is a crucial tool for fulfilling this goal. The implementation of the project has enabled VSB-TUO to send students and staff on various types of mobility (SMS, SMT, STA, STT). Participants received not only financial support, without which many mobilities would not have been possible or would have had limited impact on their professional and personal development, but also extensive administrative and organizational assistance. The international experience provides students with a significant competitive advantage when entering the labour market. For staff, mobility represents an opportunity for professional and personal growth, particularly valued for the possibility of establishing new contacts and exchanging experience. The university also actively participates in large European and global educational initiatives and is a member of the European university alliance U!REKA. Developing strategic cooperation with partner academic and research institutions strengthens VSB-TUO’s prestige on the international stage and contributes to building long-term quality partnerships. Particular attention is also paid to incoming students. VSB-TUO is aware of the challenges of the adaptation process and therefore supports close cooperation between faculty International Offices, the university’s International Relations Office (IRO) and student organizations, especially Erasmus Student Network VSB-TUO (ESN VSB-TUO). This synergy creates a welcoming environment not only for international students but also for incoming staff. At the same time, comprehensive administrative and organizational support is ensured at several levels of the university (IRO, financial departments, faculty study offices, etc.) for outgoing mobility participants. The aim of the project funded by Erasmus+ was to strengthen cooperation with existing partners from programme countries while expanding the network of partners with new institutions. Cooperation with foreign universities, enterprises and research centres enhances the prestige of VSB-TUO, provides valuable opportunities for international comparison, and supports the professional and personal growth of both students and staff. An important indicator of this growth is, for example, the university’s improving position in international rankings such as Times Higher Education (THE), which also assess internationalization outcomes (mobility statistics, numbers of international students, etc.). The offer of mobilities is systematically promoted by the university through personal meetings with students, the website https://www.vsb.cz/mobility/en/, the university magazine Akademik, promotional materials and student competitions. Shared experiences of students and staff who have completed a mobility abroad have a strong motivational effect and spread a positive image of the Erasmus+ programme. Each participant becomes a natural ambassador of Erasmus+, inspiring students, colleagues and co-workers with their experience. Particularly valuable are the first mobilities of staff, whose shared experiences in classrooms and workplaces significantly contribute to spreading the programme’s positive message.
