Objectives

Support for the development of an international environment at Jan Evangelista Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem (hereinafter referred to as UJEP) is, in accordance with the UJEP Statute, one of the university's fundamental missions and is part of all the university's strategic documents in the area of internationalization. Currently, this mainly concerns the Strategic Plan for the period 2021+ and plans for its implementation for individual years, as well as Strategic Measures to Strengthen Internationalization at UJEP. International mobility is one of the most important tools of internationalization, and therefore, in accordance with the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education and the Erasmus Policy Statement, it is the intention of UJEP to participate in projects offering various types of stays abroad for students and employees of higher education institutions. The aim of project No. 2023-1-CZ01-KA131-HED-000114965 was to participate in all types of mobility supported by the Erasmus+ program within KA1 learning mobility of individuals, i.e., study stays and practical internships for students or graduates and teaching stays and training for employees. Participation in blended intensive programs was planned only in the form of participation by UJEP students and employees in events organized by foreign universities, i.e., not in the form of their organization. Within the project, a total of 233 mobilities were planned to take place between June 1, 2023, and July 31, 2025. Of the total number of 128 student mobilities, the UJEP intended to send 98 students or doctoral graduates on study stays and 30 students or graduates on practical internships. As part of 105 staff mobilities, 62 academic staff were to be sent on teaching stays abroad and 43 employees on training. A grant of EUR 496,376 was provided to UJEP within the project for the implementation and organization of these mobilities. Several hundred foreign partner universities were available to UJEP students and staff for their mobility, with the option of finding other organizations themselves for practical internships and training abroad. A prerequisite for the implementation of all mobilities was compliance with all basic and partial principles of mobility in the Erasmus+ program. These principles include, for example, the organization of transparent selection procedures ensuring equal access and non-discrimination for all applicants. Another principle is the implementation of mobility based on pre-concluded inter-institutional agreements, as well as study agreements or mobility agreements. The recognition of results obtained during stays abroad is also an essential part. Emphasis is also placed on the horizontal priorities of the Erasmus+ program for the period 2021–2027. Compliance with these principles is facilitated at UJEP by the Rector's Directive on the Organization of International Mobility (hereinafter referred to as the "Directive"), which is the main tool for implementing European Commission rules into UJEP's internal processes. Together with other methodological documents, it guides the staff of the UJEP External Relations Department (hereinafter referred to as OVV UJEP) and faculty coordinators, whose agenda includes the organization of international mobility at UJEP. Part of the organization of international mobility is also providing support to selected participants in both outgoing and incoming mobilities. Support for incoming participants is provided not only during their mobility at UJEP, but also before their arrival and after its completion. This support includes, among other things, various events and courses to improve students' language skills, and also helps with their integration into the academic and local environment. Its aim is to facilitate their reintegration after their return and to support the sustainability of international mobility. UJEP also strives to help foreign applicants for a stay at UJEP by providing other necessities for their stay in the Czech Republic and at UJEP, digitizing partial activities related to the organization of international mobility, and creating conditions for the implementation of international mobility even for applicants with limited opportunities.
