In international cooperation, the Erasmus+ programme at the University of Hradec Králové ("UHK") has a longstanding tradition and support, with the ambition to develop foreign relations – the principles embedded in the programme are applied in other areas of the university´s life and reflected in its documents. The four priorities of the Erasmus+ programme strongly influence university’s development and serve as a driving force behind many changes and adopted measures. Within its strategic plan, UHK has developed a separate Internationalization Strategy, which considers the Erasmus+ programme as a significant cornerstone for the development of internationalization. The Erasmus+ programme thus strengthens the internationalization of the environment, increases attractiveness of UHK, develops global competence of students, so-called „internationalization at home,“ fosters international collaboration, and enhance promotion of UHK abroad. The number of Erasmus agreements grows slowly and the new programme period 2021-2027 is used to revise qualitative aspects of collaboration under existing agreements and to deepen ongoing cooperation. Compared to the past, there is a greater emphasis on developing strategic partnerships. UHK has four university-wide strategic international partners – two in Europe, one in Africa, and one in Latin America – and has also strived for active participation in the European University Alliances initiative. The Erasmus+ programme thus creates opportunities for a shift toward a modern university.
