Objectives

Internationalisation and its development are one of the five fundamental pillars of the strategic development of Tomas Bata University (TBU). Our active participation in the Erasmus+ KA131 project is key to achieving several specific goals in this area. These include supporting student mobility (both short-term and long-term) for study stays or internships abroad, simplifying the process of recognising results from mobility programs, supporting short-term mobility for incoming international students, and promoting international stays for TBU academic staff and employees for the purpose of teaching or training. In particular, teaching mobility within the Erasmus program contributes to the professional and personal development of academic staff on several levels. A stay at a partner university makes it possible to acquire new professional knowledge, broaden awareness of current research and teaching trends, and establish contacts that may lead to further international collaboration. At the same time, it provides opportunities for inspiration in teaching methods, as academic staff can learn about different approaches to working with students and later apply them in their own teaching practice. Teaching in a foreign language strengthens language skills and the ability to communicate effectively with an international audience, which fosters greater openness and adaptability in a multicultural environment. Mobility also supports the creation of new research projects or joint publications and enhances the professional reputation of teachers, which can have a positive impact on their career development as well as the quality of education provided to students. Participation in the project in the relatively new phase of the program and the introduction of a unified system for managing inter-institutional agreements (through EWP) helped us review existing agreements. This allowed us to further develop and strengthen long-term collaboration with partners and explore opportunities for establishing new partnerships. The main goal of the project was to support student and staff mobility and offer them the opportunity to gain unique experiences abroad. The current program period also promotes the digitalisation of mobility management at our university, which speeds up and simplifies the entire process for everyone involved. We also greatly appreciate that the project opens up opportunities for students with special needs to gain international experience during their studies. Thanks to additional financial support and services provided by TBU, they can overcome economic or other barriers and go abroad for a stay. The project has also contributed to increasing cultural diversity at the university and supported the creation of a more inclusive and dynamic academic environment. Thanks to the project and the excellent cooperation with the ESN Zlín student organisation, many cultural and social events could be organised for participants at TBU. At these events, students had the opportunity to meet each other, learn about each other’s traditions and cultures, and work on breaking down various stereotypes. Local students were often involved in these activities as well, which provided an ideal opportunity for developing their communication skills in a foreign language. This experience often resulted in strong motivation for them to consider their own mobility abroad.
