Objectives

Within the 2023 call, our project pursued three main objectives: 1. Supporting the growth of mobility participation The first objective focused on maintaining the upward trend in the number of students and staff participating in mobility programmes. The experiences of the Covid-19 pandemic and the outbreak of war in Ukraine highlighted the importance of interdisciplinarity, flexibility, and diversity in education. These qualities are essential for understanding complex global contexts, responding to dynamic changes, and adapting to an evolving world. As a result, study abroad experiences gained even greater significance in ensuring educational excellence and preparing graduates for the labour market. 2. Promoting new Erasmus+ features The second objective was to raise awareness of new Erasmus+ opportunities, particularly short-term Ph.D. mobilities and Blended Intensive Programmes (BIPs). With study abroad experiences becoming a mandatory component of nearly all newly accredited Ph.D. programmes, Erasmus+ short-term mobilities offer an excellent way to meet this requirement. Additionally, we aimed to promote this format as a more inclusive option for young researchers who are unable to spend an entire semester or academic year abroad due to family commitments or full-time employment. Bachelor and master students were actively offered this option in case there are serious burdens not allowing them to spend longer time abroad (students with special needs, students with children, professional athletes). Another goal was to increase the number of BIPs coordinated by Charles University. Although this format has attracted interest from both academic and non-academic staff since its introduction in the new programme period, its full integration into study programmes remains a challenge. Therefore, our key activities included promoting the format, collecting feedback, sharing best practices, and preparing methodological support materials. 3. Highlighting the added value of Erasmus+ The third objective was to emphasise the added value of the Erasmus+ programme, particularly its alignment with European priorities such as inclusion, sustainability, digital skills, and civic engagement. These values are essential for shaping the future of society. Our goal was to create opportunities for both outgoing and incoming participants to naturally engage with these priorities during their mobility experiences—allowing them to learn about their importance and become inspired to integrate them into their everyday lives.
