Objectives

KEY symbolizes democratic change in the Czech Republic (Czechoslovakia) ignited by the Velvet revolution in 1989. The project sees youth workers as mentors giving young people keys for engagement and opening new doors in community development. The project’s vision was to have communities with engaged youth seeking positive change in their communities, hence KEY (Komunita- Engaged Youth) for change. By implementing the “KEY” project, our project team and partner organizations wanted to spread a sense of civic responsibility and active citizenship among young people. We have done so by providing youth workers (YW) and youth leaders (YL) with enhanced analytical and mentoring abilities. The project's goal was to empower and motivate future generations to take an active role in community development and democratic processes. As a result, we believe that our project has contributed to having communities that are more cohesive, resilient, and engaged, and are able now to promote constructive social change. In addition to addressing the issue of young people's low participation in democratic activities, the project enhanced civil society by fostering a spirit of solidarity and involvement among various communities in the EU and its neighboring countries. The project was aimed to encourage young people to become active and engaged citizens in their communities through fostering youth workers mentoring and community analyzing skills. The objectives of the project were to: 1. Map the roles of young people and youth workers in the community. 2. Develop youth workers analyzing and understanding skills and competences. 3. Develop youth workers mentoring skills. 4. Encourage youth workers to support young people to become active and engaged citizens in their communities. 5. Facilitate networking and further co-operation between participants and their organizations for issues concerning cooperation between youth, youth workers and communities across EU member and neighboring countries. 6. Enrich communities with diverse activities, tools and methodologies in field of youth activism. These objectives are linked to the mobility project's aims of Erasmus+ prorgamme by "raising awareness andunderstanding of others cultures and countries, offering them to build networks of international contacts and develop a sense of European citizenship and identity". This project was a great opportunity for organizations to share successful methodologies and activate their target groups, create stronger partnerships. The training course also raised awareness about EU Citizenship and democracy, inclusion and equity, creates social dialogue on national/international level by engaging youth with different backgrounds from different countries.
