Objectives

Twister was a two-stage project that focused on communication and its various aspects in connection with youth work. Specifically, to reflect and increase the self-awareness of each individual's communication style, especially in youth work. Main objective was to empower participants from different horizons and fields with their communication skills, from a personal like professional aspect. For that, it was necessary to prepare the participant to reevaluate what they know about communication, from topics such as non-verbal communication, intercultural shock, to concrete presentation and improvisation skills in front of people etc. Pushing the participant out of their comfort zone to improve their public speaking competences in a safe and benevolent context give major results for each one of them, giving a deep concrete impact from this 1st stage, which was our goal from the beginning because as mentioned based on our experience we see this as beneficial approach for personal development in general. The Training Course aimed to strengthen the capacities of youth workers in the area of communication — a skill essential for effective and democratic youth work in today’s Europe. The course focused on increasing participants’ self-awareness regarding their own communication styles and empowering them to transfer messages more consciously and effectively in their work with young people. Objectives of the Project - Enhance Communication Skills of Youth Workers - Strengthen the ability to communicate clearly, empathically, supportively, and non-violently — adapting messages to various audiences and learning styles. - Increase Self-Awareness of Communication Styles - Encourage youth workers to reflect on and recognize their own communication habits and explore how these affect their work with young people. - Bridge the Gap in Formal Education - Address the lack of focus on interpersonal communication in formal education systems by providing practical, experiential learning on the topic. - Explore the Impact of the Digital Age on Communication - Promote Communication as a Tool for Leadership and Social Change - Empower youth workers to use communication consciously as a means to influence, inspire, and support young people and communities. Based on the needs of the group we focused also on public speaking and creating structures for talks. For this we changed the mid term task from delivering the workshop to recording the video that helped them to get a job/partnership/internship, etc. The aim was to increase their ability to connect with someone, their confidence and skills to work with recording and visual presentation. From the first stage this was also a logical step to build their confidence and ability to structure presentations, this also aimed to enhance their ability to give proper feedback. In general we met our objectives and we managed to develop all participant's skills so they can attend their jobs now better. They will be able to share what they learned with their organizations as well as with their youth. Beside teaching them we always took time to explain why so their understanding was much deeper and they could carry this lesson. We met our general objective which was to develop their communication skills which was achieved and can be also seen in formal evaluation, beside we got feedback how much this enriched them during non-formal evaluation and during the second stage. Their abilities, skills, attitudes and aptitudes are now further than when we met them for the first time in the Czech Republic. - Participants enhanced their skills in verbal and non-verbal communication, active listening, giving and receiving feedback, and managing conflict through dialogue. - Youth workers reported increased confidence in their ability to lead groups, resolve misunderstandings, and express themselves authentically. - Together with partner organizations, we developed tools and practices that can be implemented in youth work activities, training courses, and mentorship programs. - Many participants left the training with the intention to bring communication workshops and tools to their local communities and organizations (Elshan, Tetiana, Kristýna, etc.) - Through non-formal education methods in an international environment, participants experienced diverse communication styles and built bridges of understanding across cultures. This nicely linked to the objectives we stated in the application: Non-formal learning opportunity, Interculturality, etc.
