The goal of the project was to improve communication and social inclusion for people with dementia by equipping family members, caregivers, and professionals with practical skills and modern approaches to dementia care. We aimed to reduce social isolation, stress, and burnout among caregivers by providing accessible, evidence-based educational materials, including a booklet and video content. These resources were designed to offer effective communication techniques, cognitive stimulation methods, and sensory activities that could be used in home care, outreach services, and professional settings. By implementing the project, we also sought to strengthen international cooperation, share best practices, and develop innovative tools that would remain available beyond the project’s duration, ensuring long-term impact and sustainability in dementia care education.
We applied for this project to address the growing challenge of dementia care in our communities, particularly in home and outreach settings, where support is often insufficient. With an aging population and limited capacity for residential care services, many family members and caregivers struggle to communicate effectively with individuals with dementia, leading to social isolation, stress, and burnout. Existing training materials were either inaccessible, outdated or not tailored to non-professional caregivers. Our goal was to create practical, evidence-based educational materials, including a booklet and video resources, to provide clear guidance on communication techniques, cognitive engagement, and sensory stimulation. By equipping caregivers with effective strategies, we sought to improve the quality of care, enhance well-being, and foster inclusion for people with dementia in both home environments and outreach services.
